IPL 2022: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) SWOT Analysis and Schedule

At the IPL 2022 mega auction, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made some good buys, investing substantially in global and domestic talent and senior players.

The team has made significant international and domestic talent and veteran players investments. The red army has released some of their top performers ahead of the blockbuster auction, including young hitter Devdutt Padikkal and wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

Despite being a good team on paper, Royal Challengers Bangalore has consistently failed to live up to expectations over the years and has yet to win an IPL title, despite appearing in three finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016. They’ll be trying to go the extra mile this time.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Bengaluru-based franchise ahead of IPL 2022. The Bengaluru-based franchise looks forward to rewriting history with its current crop of potential players.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad For IPL 2022:

Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Suyash Prabhudessai, Chama Milind, Mohammed Siraj, Faf du Plessis, Mahipal Lomror, Finn Allen, Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dinesh Karthik, Josh Hazlewood, Shahbaz Ahmed, Anuj Rawat, Akash Deep, Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Behrendorff, Aneeshwar Gautam, Luvnith Sisodia, David Willey

Royal Challengers Bangalore SWOT Analysis IPL 2022:

Strength – Strong pacers in squad

Mohammed Siraj will play the new ball in RCB

This season, Bangalore would not have a problem making it matter at the death overs thanks to its deadly pace attack. Mohammed Siraj is scheduled to split the new ball with Josh Hazlewood of Australia. At the same time, Harshal Patel, Australian fast Jason Behrendorrf, Siddharth Kaul, and England left-arm pacer David Willey will provide some much-needed support.

Weakness – Missing their key batter

AB de Villiers retirement will harm RCB batting line-ups

AB de Villiers, aka “Mr.360,” announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in November, making him ineligible for the IPL 2022. This means the Royal Challengers Bangalore will be without a batter who can consistently score runs in the middle and death overs. As a result, Glenn Maxwell’s shoulders will have increased responsibility.

Opportunity –  Faf du Plessis will be RCB skipper

Faf du Plessis will replace Virat Kohli as RCB new skipper

Faf du Plessis has been appointed as the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Virat Kohli stepped down as captain of the Indian team at the end of the previous season, corresponding with him being freed of his international obligations. Du Plessis is a seasoned combatant, having led South Africa from December 2016 until February 2020 (after being named all-format captain in August 2017).

Despite playing a significant role in Chennai Super Kings’ fourth title success, the defending champions released the Proteas sensation. He had a fantastic 2021 season, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer with 633 runs from 16 games. As the Royal Challengers Bangalore aim to win their first IPL title, the 37-year-old would like to start over.

Threats – Consistency of RCB batting line-ups

Virat Kohli

The world’s best batsman, Virat Kohli, must consistently produce for RCB throughout the competition. If he continues to be off-colour, the pressure will be put on Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik, and Faf du Plessis. If Karthik fails to impact the 22-yard line, Faf will have to take care of the top-order on his own, and if he fails to score big runs at vital moments, the middle-order will be left guessing early on.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Schedule In IPL 2022:

At the IPL 2022 mega auction, the Royal Challengers Bangalore made some good buys, investing substantially in global and domestic talent and senior players. While young batsman Devdutt Padikkal and wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal were released, they welcomed newcomers like Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood, seasoned South African batter Faf du Plessis, Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, and West Indies wonder Sherfane Rutherford. Months before the two-day bidding event, they retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj.

Meanwhile, the Red Army will play their first encounter against Punjab Kings on March 27 at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai to settle their team makeup as soon as possible before the tournament’s business end.

IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians (MI) SWOT Analysis and Schedule

The Mumbai Indians will aim to put their disappointing 2021 season behind them as they prepare for the IPL 2022 season, which starts on March 26. In the previous edition of IPL, MI had high expectations going into the tournament, having won back-to-back titles in the 2019 and 2020 editions, and could have become the first team in the competition’s history to win a hat-trick of titles if the Rohit Sharma-led side had done things correctly last year when they finished fifth.

Mumbai Indians Squad For IPL 2022:

Rohit Sharma (c), Jasprit Bumrah, Arjun Tendulkar, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Tymal Mills, Riley Meredith, Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis, Anmolpreet Singh, Basil Thampi, Murugan Ashwin, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, N Tilak Varma, Sanjay Yadav, Jofra Archer, Daniel Sams, Tim David, Mohd Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Rahul Buddhi, Aryan Juyal, Hrithik Shokeen, Fabian Allen

Mumbai Indians SWOT Analysis IPL 2022:

Strength – MI have deep line-ups

Rohit Sharma will continue to become MI captain

The success of the Mumbai Indians is due to their core group. The five-time champions will hope that veteran members of their squad, such as Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard, and Suryakumar Yadav, have another successful season. The franchise’s outstanding performer, Ishan Kishan, will be welcomed with open arms at the top of the order, alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. Power hitters like Tim David and Dewald Brevis, and Pollard can deliver a strong finish, especially now that Hardik Pandya has been dropped from the squad.

Weakness – Death bowling is still a concern

Jasprit Bumrah could plug the flow in death overs

The Mumbai Indians will be without express pacer Jofra Archer, who would have been an ideal partner for Jasprit Bumrah to share the new ball and stop the flow of runs in the dying overs. Due to the absence of Jofra Archer, skipper Rohit Sharma will consider other possibilities like Tymal Mills, Riley Meredith, Basil Thampi, and Jaydev Unadkat. Given his wicket-taking talents, even Jasprit Bumrah has been known to have a bad day or two at the workplace in the past.

The club will also be without leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, who was one of the team’s most essential bowlers Jasprit Bumrah. Murugan Ashwin and Mayank Markande will be tasked with filling the spinner shortage in the team.

Opportunity – Foreign will try to find their role in MI

South Africa’s U19 World Cup star Dewald Brevis

It will be interesting to watch how South Africa’s U19 World Cup hero Dewald Brevis fits into Mumbai Indians’s hugely laden batting order. Tim David, who is known for his devastating power with the bat down the order, will be eager to show off his skills in the gala tournament as well. Fabian Allen might be a like-to-like substitute for Pollard’s captain as a West Indies all-rounder.

English pacer Tymal Mills could be an excellent alternative to bowl with Jasprit Bumrah in the death overs, given his deceptive slower balls and pinpoint yorkers. Similarly, Australian pacer Riley Meredith, who had a difficult season with Punjab Kings last year, could be a viable option due to his wicket-taking abilities in the middle overs.

Threats – Injury problems

Jofra Archer missing from the action

Injury threats could become one of MI’s significant concerns, as they have plagued the team in prior seasons. The biggest issue with Archer now out is whether Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma will play the entire season, given injuries in previous tournaments have plagued him. The team will be without a fearsome batter and captaincy abilities if that happens.

Mumbai Indians Schedule In IPL 2022:

On March 6, the BCCI announced the schedule for the 15th edition of the tournament, which will begin on March 26 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium with last year’s finalists Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Meanwhile, the five-time champions will begin their season on March 27 against the Delhi Capitals at the CCI Stadium in Brabourne. The middle-order will be the biggest test for Mumbai Indians this season, and it’s unclear where Kieron Pollard will find his much-needed support after the club decides to part ways with Hardik and Krunal Pandya.

The five-time champions named skipper Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Suryakumar Yadav, and speedster Jasprit Bumrah as necessary retainers on November 30, 2021. At the IPL 2022 huge auction last month, they signed Tim David (INR 8.25 crore), Basil Thampi (INR 30 lakh), Murugan Ashwin (INR 1.6 crore), Dewald Brevis (INR 3 crore), Jaydev Unadkat (INR 1.30 crore), and others. The five-time champions outbid all other clubs to bring back teenage wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan for a whopping INR 15.25 crore.

While Mumbai Indians brought England pacer Jofra Archer for INR 8 crore at the Bengaluru two-day tournament, it should be noted that due to an elbow injury, the tearaway fast bowler will only be eligible for the 2023 season. With a rebuilt line-up, the Mumbai Indians will be hoping to go the distance and win a record sixth IPL crown this time around.

IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals (RR) SWOT Analysis and Schedule

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are looking to capitalise on this new beginning. Since winning the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, the winners have been unimpressive throughout the majority of their tenure in the competition. On the other hand, the mega auction meant that the franchisees could start again and develop a team from the ground up. Sanju Samson (Rs 14 crore), Jos Buttler (Rs 10 crore), and Yashaswi Jaiswal (Rs 4 crore) were retained by RR before the IPL 2022 auction.

They then proceeded to the auction table to make their purchases. Prasidh Krishna, an Indian fast bowler, was the highest-priced player they bought for Rs 10 crore. They also spent a lot of money on Shimron Hetmyer, a West Indian batter, for whom they paid Rs 8.50 crore. They built their core with Trent Boult (Rs 8 crore), Devdutt Padikkal (Rs 7.75 crore), Yuzvendra Chahal (Rs 6.50 crore), and R Ashwin (Rs 5 crore). RR also paid Rs 2 crore for the seasoned Nathan Coulter-Nile and Rs 3.80 crore for the promising Indian cricketer Riyan Parag, investing a total of Rs 61.05 crore for their roster.

Rajasthan Royals Squad For IPL 2022:

Sanju Samson (c), Trent Boult, Obed McCoy, Anunay Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rassie van der Dussen, Ravichandran Ashwin, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Riyan Parag, KC Cariappa, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Sen, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel, Tejas Baroka, Kuldip Yadav, Shubham Garhwal, James Neesham, Daryl Mitchell

Rajasthan Royals SWOT Analysis IPL 2022:

Strength – Strong batting line-ups

Jos Buttler & Yashasvi Jaiswal in RR batting order

Rajasthan Royals have a strong batting order with Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, and Riyan Parag. Buttler is currently regarded as one of the best white-ball cricketers in the world. With his big-hitting and a wide diversity of strokeplay, the energetic hitter is a force to be reckoned with. Buttler, England’s limited-overs vice-captain, is superb against quality pace bowling and can smash spin bowling.

RR has a player in Samson who has been with the franchise since his IPL career, except for two seasons when the franchise was suspended. When he’s on form, the gifted Indian hitter is a sight to behold. He is the epitome of elegance. The Kerala-born cricketer’s drive on the field can quickly steal the game away from the opposition. Samson has already single-handedly won multiple games for RR with his remarkable timing, and he has done so at a rapid pace.

Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag round out the Royals’ middle-order batting. While the West Indian batsman has shown flashes of being a potential finisher for the side when he is in full flow and can hit those monster sixes, Parag has shown glimpses of being a likely finisher for the team when he is not in full flow. Parag had had outstanding performances for the squad in prior seasons, which helped the franchisee acquire him back from the auctions.

Weakness – Lack of key all-rounders in RR

RR all-rounder Jimmy Neesham

The all-rounders play one of the most crucial responsibilities in ensuring that a T20 team is balanced. RR has good hitting skills in their batting, but they don’t have many players that can contribute with both the bat and the ball when needed. When it comes to a T20 event, an all-rounder is a powerful tool in a captain’s arsenal. A batsman who can put the finishing touches on a game while also rescuing the squad when the top and middle orders falter is a valuable asset to any team.

In addition, an all-rounder is a vital option for the skipper if one or two of their regular bowlers have a terrible day or are sidelined due to an unwelcome injury.

Jimmy Neesham, a New Zealand cricketer, is an excellent all-around option for the Royals. The 28-year-old, on the other hand, has failed to live up to expectations in most of his previous IPL organisations. Jimmy Neesham can hit a few massive sixes but has struggled to maintain consistency. Neesham’s bowling can be lined up on flat surfaces, and he does not have much variation to recover from a batter’s counterattack.

RR might also consider Riyan Parag and Ravi Ashwin as all-rounders in addition to Neesham. In T20 cricket, however, neither Riyan Parag nor Ravichandran Ashwin has been regarded as genuine all-rounders. As a result, a lack of options in the department might throw the team’s balance off and leave its captain with few options in a tight game.

Opportunity – Strong local line-ups

Sanju Samson is the perfect Indian core in RR

Sanju Samson, a 27-year-old Indian star, is the team’s captain, and they have the ideal Indian core in their roster. After all, the IPL is an Indian domestic event in which each side is limited to four foreign players in its starting eleven. Recent history has repeatedly demonstrated that teams with a decent balance of Indian players fare well in the event.

The RR batting is injected with youth, thanks to Yashaswi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal, two very young but incredibly excellent players. With their fearless mentality, the two southpaws might be the perfect starting combination for the Royals, setting up the innings brilliantly for the seasoned bats to come in and capitalise.

Only a few franchises have the pleasure of having an Indian fast bowler capable of speeds of up to 150 km/h. Prasidh Krishna is thus a vital asset for his side, and he has already demonstrated his ability with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous season.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal add much-needed experience in the spin bowling department for the Royals. The two senior Indian spinners and IPL veterans might create a devastating spin tandem on Indian pitches, rounding out the team’s local solid core.

Threats – Lack of experienced pace bowler

New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult

Despite having Trent Boult, a veteran New Zealand fast bowler, in their line-up, the Royals are not the most well-resourced when it comes to pace bowling options. While Boult has been a successful spinner in the IPL, having excelled for the Mumbai Indians, he may lack experience on the other end of the bat.

RR has potential in Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy. However, those bowlers are relatively fresh to the stage and could collapse under pressure. In his last few IPL appearances, Navdeep Saini has been pricey, and he does not inspire much trust in specific playing conditions. The squad also brought in Nathan Coulter-Nile, an Australian player who has shown vulnerability in conditioning and is prone to injury.

As a result, there would be more than expected on Boult to lead the assault, and if he is forced to miss games, the Rajasthan club may struggle to contain opponents.

Rajasthan Royals Schedule In IPL 2022

Rajasthan Royals will be trying to get off to a good start in this year’s IPL, which has ten clubs. Given the competitive nature of the league, a bad start could put pressure on the club and make it harder to recover in the second half of the competition. The franchise has had a history of starting well but then having their season wrecked by a string of losses.

RR will play 15 league matches, just like the other teams in the tournament. Their debut encounter will be on March 29th in Pune against the 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 5th match of the 2022 IPL season.

IPL 2022: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) SWOT Analysis and Schedule

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SHR) has been one of the most consistent teams in the IPL. The Orange Army joined the league late in the season. However, in their limited existence, they have already won one championship. Under David Warner’s leadership, the Sunrisers won the IPL championship in 2016.

SRH has always made it to the Top 4 after that event. The Sunrisers, on the other hand, have yet to win a championship. They got off to a poor start in the United Arab Emirates last year, and they eventually recovered and defeated the competition’s top three teams to advance to the playoffs. Before the Delhi Capitals finished their IPL 2020 campaign, Hyderabad eliminated the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Hyderabad franchise was not as active at the IPL auction this year, and they kept their core set of players while adding a few backups. The Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for IPL 2021 has a comprehensive SWOT Analysis.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad For IPL 2022:

David Warner, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Wriddhiman Saha, Virat Singh, Jonny Bairstow, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Sandeep Sharma, Shreevats Goswami, Priyam Garg, Mohammad Nabi, Vijay Shankar, Kedar Jadhav, Mitchell Marsh, Jason Holder, Siddarth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan, Basil Thampi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhishek Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem, Jagadeesha Suchith

Sunrisers Hyderabad SWOT Analysis IPL 2022 :

Strength – Top Order of SRH

SRH most destructive top-order lineups

In IPL 2021, the Sunrisers Hyderabad boast one of the most potent top-order teams. David Warner has always been a massive scorer in the IPL, and his partnership with Jonny Bairstow was outstanding in 2019. Wriddhiman Saha did amazing, who opened for Hyderabad last year.

David Warner will have to choose between Jonny Bairstow and Wriddhiman Saha as his opening partner, which will be difficult. Because of his high-level performances and the fact that he is an Indian player, it will be challenging to overlook Saha. If SRH chooses to bench Bairstow, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Jason Holder, Mitchell Marsh, or Mohammad Nabi could be included in the starting XI.

Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson provide solid support to the opening batters. Last year, against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Williamson produced a great knock under duress. In the meantime, Pandey contributed a few valuable innings for the Hyderabad franchise.

Weakness – SRH unreliable middle-order

Virat Singh need more time in SRH

The middle-order for the Sunrisers Hyderabad is unreliable. They have inexperienced players on the roster, such as Virat Singh. Abhishek Sharma and Priyam Garg could not make an impression despite several opportunities. Both players are still young and have the potential to become match-winners. However, they will have to improve their game in the IPL 2021.

The Sunrisers can’t always rely on their top three batters to deliver. Singh, Sharma, Garg, and even Abdul Samad should strive to perfect their assistance for the top order. Jason Holder, Mitchell Marsh, and Mohammad Nabi are good foreign finishes for the Sunrisers.

Kedar Jadhav has joined the team ahead of the IPL 2021 season. The Sunrisers signed him due to his previous experience. However, fans should keep in mind that Jadhav has never scored more than 300 runs in a single IPL season. As a result, the middle-order appears to be SRH’s main flaw.

Opportunity – Experienced India cricket all-rounders

Vijay Shankar is the next big thing in Indian cricket

In their middle order, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have a lot of young and inexperienced players. They do have some well-known domestic cricketers in their all-rounder group. Many people considered Vijay Shankar the next big thing in Indian cricket, but he disappointed his admirers.

The Orange Army has re-signed Vijay Shankar for the IPL 2021 season. Shankar will be eager to create an impression because the group includes players similar to him, such as Mitchell Marsh and Jason Holder. Jagadeesha Suchith is the other Indian all-rounder with domestic experience.

Many IPL fans will recall that before the arrival of Krunal Pandya, Suchith was a standout all-rounder for the Mumbai Indians. Suchith has struggled to make an impact in the IPL recently. However, if he is given the regular opportunity, he might be a valuable asset to the Sunrisers.

Threats – SRH players’ injury concerns

SRH Purple Cap winner Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The injury issues of the Sunrisers Hyderabad players pose the most severe threat to the team. Multiple players from the Hyderabad-based franchise could not play the entire competition last year due to injuries. The Sunrisers will hope that Bhuvneshwar Kumar, a past Purple Cap winner, is available for the whole of the season.

Bhuvneshwar has had a rough go of it in recent years regarding fitness and injury. Vijay Shankar, the all-rounder, has been plagued by ailments, and Mitchell Marsh is no exception. In IPL 2020, Wriddhiman Saha missed the vital Qualifier 2 game due to injury.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad were unable to compete in the IPL 2020 due to injuries in their camp. SRH will likely lose a few games while finding a winning lineup if the same situation happens again. As a result, the Orange Army’s hopes in IPL 2021 are still jeopardised by injury issues.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Schedule In IPL 2022

SRH already have one title under their belt, which they won in 2016 under Australian batter David Warner’s guidance. On the other hand, they had a challenging assignment ahead of the auction, letting go of David Warner and Rashid Khan. The orange army retained Kane Williamson and the uncapped combination of Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. The franchise acquired notable players during the bidding process, including Nicholas Pooran, Washington Sundar, and Rahul Tripathi.

IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals (DC) SWOT Analysis and Schedule

Indian Premier League has generally seen two teams dominate the competition. The Mumbai Indians have won the trophy five times, while the Chennai Super Kings have won it four times. These two clubs are usually the favourites to win every season. On the other hand, specific teams have come so near yet so far in their quest to win the tournament. Delhi Capitals (DC) has shown a lot of promise in recent years.

They have performed admirably to reach the playoffs in the last three seasons. The finalists for 2020, on the other hand, have been unable to make that final jump to glory. On the other hand, the Capitals would be hopeful following the conclusion of the 2022 super auction about their chances of breaking the jinx and capturing their first IPL trophy.

Before going into the auctions, DC kept the majority of its Indian core. Their four retainers were Rishabh Pant (Rs 16 crore), Axar Patel (Rs 9 crore), Prithvi Shaw (Rs 7.5 crore), and Anrich Nortje (Rs 6.5 crore). They subsequently proceeded to make some significant auction purchases.

The Capitals spent Rs 10.75 crore for Indian bowler Shardul Thakur, making him their most expensive acquisition. They also paid Rs 6.50 crore for Mitchell Marsh, Rs 6.25 crore for David Warner, Rs 2.8 crore for Rovman Powell, and Rs 2.8 crore for Mustafizur Rahman (Rs 2 crore). Khaleel Ahmed (Rs 5.2 crore), Chetan Sakariya (Rs 4.2 crore), and Kuldeep Yadav (Rs 2 crore) were among the Indian choices purchased by the franchisee.

Delhi Capitals SWOT Analysis IPL 2022 :

Strength – DC have one of the best batting lineups

DC batter Prithvi Shaw

This season, the Delhi Capitals have perhaps one of the most lethal batting lineups. In the previous few seasons, the team that has relied on having hard-hitting guys across their batting order has once again perfected this concept.

The Capitals boast one of the best opening pairings in the tournament in Prithvi Shaw and David Warner. Several boxes will be checked by the duo opening the inning jointly. They create a formidable left-right batting tandem. They’re both aggressive on the powerplay, and they’ve also established batters who have performed admirably in the IPL thus far.

On the other hand, DC is one of the few clubs with a succession of solid and hard-hitting batters. Rishabh Pant, their captain, was one of the most sought-after cricketers in the world at the moment. Pant is a batsman capable of taking on any bowling attack and winning games independently. Mitchell Marsh has been arguably the most consistent T20 batsman in recent memory. He may bat in the middle of the order or at the end of an innings.

In his recent appearance for the West Indies against India, Rovman Powell demonstrated what he could. As a result, a hitting lineup of this calibre can easily hunt down any target while also putting up massive totals when batting first.

Weakness – Lack of spin bowlers

DC talented bowler Kuldeep Yadav

For the 2022 season, the club that featured several quality spinners in the previous two seasons is a touch light in that category. After being released, Delhi lost out on the crucial experience R Ashwin, and Amit Mishra brought to the team.

The Capitals do not have a spinner who can run through teams on his day, despite keeping left-arm orthodox bowler Axar Patel, who has done well for them in the past. On their roster, Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm chinaman bowler, is another outstanding bowler. Yadav’s IPL performance, on the other hand, has recently deteriorated. He often appears to be lacking in confidence when a batter goes after him since he hasn’t been in the finest of form.

Apart from Patel and Yadav, the Delhi Capitals’ squad lacks seasoned spinners, which could be costly given how conducive Indian surfaces are to spin bowling.

Opportunity – Various all-rounders in the squad

DC all-rounders

When it comes to all-rounders, every good T2o squad has a variety of choices on their bench. Apart from Axar Patel, the Delhi Capitals have done well, having signed Mitchell Marsh, Rovman Powell, and Lalit Yadav.

Rovman Powell and Mitchell Marsh, their primary batter, may be pretty helpful with medium-fast bowling. They’re both seam bowling all-rounders, which is a highly sought-after skill. When one of the regular bowlers has a rough day, Marsh and Powell can chip in with the ball and relieve their captain’s pressure.

Axar is an experienced spinner who has also shown flashes of his bat-handling abilities. The left-handed batter can play second fiddle to a set batter and, when necessary, can take the lead with his above-average stroke-making. With so many options, the Delhi Capitals are always in the game, even if their renowned top-order falters or if they have a terrible day with the ball.

Threats – Vulnerable to batting disappointments

DC leaving UAE in IPL 2021

Despite having a solid batting lineup, the Capitals may be forced to miss batters who can play an important role in specific situations. On occasion, the opposition will put up a total on the board that appears to be a bit problematic because it isn’t too big or too small.

When the chasing team has a batter who can bat through the innings without taking too many risks, such run chases usually go successfully. With all of the Capitals’ dynamic batters, they may find themselves in situations that need to be less aggressive and calmer.

An anchor’s position is critical since it can help to stabilise the ship if early wickets fall. Most DC batters prefer to attack the bowling right away and might be impatient at times. When the team lacks a player who can prevent an odd batting collapse, the likelihood of such a tactic triggering one is excellent.

Delhi Capitals Schedule In IPL 2022

The Delhi Capitals (DC), who have made the final four in the last three seasons but have yet to win a trophy, will start from scratch this year. Rishabh Pant, an explosive wicketkeeper-batter, will captain the team. On March 27, DC will kick off their IPL 2022 season against Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. On Sunday, March 6, the India Board of Control for Cricket released the IPL 2022 schedule.
