Indian head coach Rahul Dravid on rest before Asia Cup

Many of the cricketers are busy with ICC’s busy cricket schedule. Many are going to rest for a few days to stay fresh. Players like Stokes are also leaning towards retirement from ODIs. This time the resting phase was seen in the case of the coach as well.

Not Rahul Dravid, but former India cricketer and current Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman will be the head coach of the Indian team in the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. India also announced the 16-member ODI squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Which will be led by Lokesh Rahul.

The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) rested the team’s regular head coach Rahul Dravid after the West Indies tour ended a few days ago. As a result, Laxman will take charge in his absence. Besides, batting coach Vikram Rathore and bowling coach have also rested from this series.

The full-time coach, including Dravid, and the cricketers who did not tour Zimbabwe, will gather on August 20 before leaving for the UAE for the Asia Cup. India’s first match in the T20 format Asia Cup, which starts on 27th of this month, is against Pakistan on 28th August.

Meanwhile, Hrishikesh Kanitkar will be the batting coach along with Laxman in Zimbabwe and Sairaj Bahutule will be the bowling coach. Both of them are Laxman’s coaching staff mate at India’s National Cricket Academy. But while Bahutul has previous experience working with the Indian team, this will be Kanitkar’s first experience.
