Keshav Maharaj becomes the South African cricketer of the year
Keshav Maharaj, the left-handed spinning all-rounder of South Africa, has been batting with great rhythm for the past one year. This time he got his recognition. This left arm spinner got the title of the best cricketer of the year by the votes of the cricketers.
He is the player of the year of Cricket South Africa (CSA). On the other hand, pacer Ayabanga Khaka has been selected as the player of the year in the women’s category.
The names of South Africa’s best cricketers in various categories for the 2021-2022 season were announced. There, Maharaj and Khaka took the place of the best players, leaving everyone behind.
In Test, pacer Kagiso Rabada won the Test Player of the Year. Janeman Malan in ODIs and Aiden Markram in T20Is.
Maharaj took 71 wickets in three formats in the last season.
In between, he made a hat-trick in the Test against the West Indies and took seven wickets in two innings. Maharaj took a record seven wickets in the innings in the series against Bangladesh. Besides, he also played a responsible innings with the bat.
Rabada became the Test Cricketer of the Year with 43 wickets in 8 matches. Malan is the best ODI cricketer by scoring 509 runs in seven innings of 8 matches. His batting average was 83.84.
Aiden Markram is at the top position in the country’s T20 format. He scored 391 runs at a strike rate of about 150. Markram is number three in the ICC T20 ranking.
Keshav is very excited to be the best of the year. He expressed his opinion in an interview to the media. Keshav said, “I want to maintain this form consistently. As long as I play, I want to contribute for South Africa”.
