Jos Buttler currently on top of the list for Orange Cap IPL 2022

With his half-century against GT, Jos Buttler remains at the top of the rankings. He is leading the run-scoring statistics with 588 runs so far in the 2022 IPL. Following Buttler, are KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Abhishek Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer.

 

KL Rahul increased his season run total to 451 runs in 10 innings. For the fourth year in a row, the LSG captain has scored 400 runs in an IPL season. He anchored the first innings with a 77-ball 51-run effort that contained four fours and five sixes. He’s still second on the list, trailing only Jos Buttler.

 

Quinton de Kock, his opening partner, continued his recent success with useful innings at the top of the order. The wicket-keeper hitter hit a quickfire 23 off 13 deliveries, bringing his season total to 294, good for sixth place on the list.

 

Deepak Hooda’s important fifty propelled him to number ten on the list, giving LSG three batsmen in the top ten of the IPL 2022 Orange Cap list.

 

So, who was the winner last year in IPL 2021?

 

 

 

 

In IPL 2021, Ruturaj Gaikwad was undoubtedly the greatest batsman on display.

 

Gaikwad, who was 24 years old at the time, has been the youngest player in the IPL’s history to win an Orange Cap, which is awarded to the season’s best run-getter. The 24-year-old scored 635 runs in 16 innings, just two more than second-placed CSK teammate Faf du Plessis.

 

He was one of the most consistent batters of the season, averaging 45.35 and striking out at a rate of 136.26. The CSK star hit 64 fours in the IPL 2021, the most by any batter. He also hit 23 sixes, which was second only to KL Rahul’s 30.

 

Gaikwad also smashed a century against Rajasthan Royals in the UAE leg, which was the only century of the tour.

 

The IPL’s highest run-scorer receives an orange cap each year. During the course of the season, the batsman with the most runs in the event would wear the Orange Cap while fielding. The overall leading run-scorer at the end of the competition would win the Orange Cap on the day of the league’s final. To date, only two players, David Warner and Chris Gayle have won the competition twice.

On Tuesday, Punjab Kings defeated table-toppers Gujarat Titans to win their fifth game of the IPL 2022 season. They thrashed GT and won with four overs to spare.

 

After winning the toss, the Gujarat Titans elected to bat first. They didn’t get off to a good start as Shubham Gill was run out by Rishi Dhawan’s excellent fielding.

 

Wriddhiman Saha was then dumped by Kagiso Rabada. After that, Rishi Dhawan stepped to the bowling crease and took Hardik Pandya’s wicket.

 

GT’s innings never got underway since they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. GT’s top player was Sai Sudharsan, who scored 65 off 50 balls to assist his team reach 143 runs.

For the night, Punjab Kings had a different opening duo, with Jonny Bairstow combining with Shikhar Dhawan at the top. The IPL 2022 action is heating up as teams compete for a spot in the top four. The Gujarat Titans have already won a top-two spot with 18 points, but the points table is still wide open for the other teams to compete.

 

With 16 points, the Rajasthan Royals(RR) are now in second place and appear to be on track to make the playoffs. One of the key reasons for their continued success has been the performance of their batters, particularly Jos Buttler, who continues to lead the league in runs scored. In terms of the leading run-getters in the competition, he continues to wear the orange cap and is head and shoulders above the other batters.

 

The 31-year-old has 627 runs at an average of 52.25 and a strike rate of 148.22 in 13 games. Despite the fact that his pace and consistency have slowed in recent weeks, the English star remains a run engine for the RR this season. If the team wants to advance to the playoffs and win the championship, it must first qualify.

He added that they always have enough time to make up if they can keep their cool when batting and play out a bowler who is bowling a terrific spell. They have the strength. It’s all about being strategic.

 

David Warner, one of the most prolific batsmen in the IPL, is batting third and, after a difficult start to the season, has regained his form. In 11 matches, the 35-year-old Aussie has scored 427 runs at an average of 53.38 with a strike rate of 151.95. The Australian star has won the Orange Cap the most times (3).

 

Sachin Tendulkar is the first Indian player to win the Orange Cap award in the IPL. In 2010, the famous cricketer scored 618 runs. Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Robin Uthappa, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and KL Rahul are the other players who have won the award.
