Steven Smith to be dropped from the first match of the World Cup?

T20 World Cup is going on in Australia. The main phase of the eighth season of the World Cup begins on Saturday. And the former Australian captain Steven Smith is losing his place in the team. Cricket Australia chief selector George Bailey said that he will not be played in the first eleven against New Zealand.

 

This former Australian captain is not able to spread light with the bat. Only 41 runs came from his bat in the last four innings. But on the other hand, Tim David is in good form with his good performance. His performance in the last September was eye-catching. He scored 136 runs in three matches. He scored 54 off 27 balls against India, 42 off 20 balls against West Indies and 40 off 23 balls against England. And maybe because of this performance, Team David is the choice of Australia’s team management.

 

Cricket Australia chief selector George Bailey said, “All 15 of our team have a chance to contribute. I don’t think Smith has that chance (in the XI against New Zealand). Team David is playing very well. But Smith will definitely play at one stage of the World Cup.”
